Enpira Privacy Policy

Enpira Inc. values the privacy of its users and their data and prioritizes protecting private information. This Statement of Privacy applies to visitors to Enpira's website, users of Enpira's services, and the private data of Enpira's clients and their customers. This Privacy Policy ensures that Enpira meets or exceeds existing privacy standards.

Why we collect information

Enpira is a utility data services platform used by utility services providers, building portfolios, and energy efficiency program service providers (collectively “clients”). Enpira's clients seek to improve home and building energy efficiency, enhance community and environmental sustainability and equity, improve electric grid efficiency and operation, avoid water and energy waste, improve their internal operations, and better provide services to their customers, constituents and members. Enpira collects information in order to better serve our clients in their energy efficiency, sustainability, operational, and community engagement objectives.

Information that may be obtained from web services

Enpira may automatically obtain certain information through the use of its web services. This information may include IP addresses, browser type, time of use, browser cookies, web beacons, device identifiers, server logs, and other technologies. Users of Enpira's web services are able to disable browser cookies at any time by modifying browser settings. Additionally, Enpira may collect personally identifiable information (PII) such as your name and email address in order to affirm your identity.

Information that may be obtained from clients

Enpira obtains energy usage and utility billing data about homes and buildings, as well as PII about home and building owners, renters and occupants. PII may include names, addresses, utility account numbers, and contact information. For more information about your utility service provider's or energy efficiency program's use of PII, please review their respective data privacy policies or contact them directly.

Information that is not obtained from clients

Enpira does not obtain sensitive personally identifiable information (SPII) about home and building owners, renters and occupants. Specifically, Enpira does not obtain credit card numbers, bank account numbers, social security numbers, driver's license numbers, alien registration numbers, financial or medical records, biometrics, or criminal history.

How PII is used

Enpira uses PII to support client initiatives and to improve the operation of its website and web services. Enpira does not sell, rent, or lease any of its collected PII to third parties.

Disclosure of information

Enpira does not disclose PII except under the following circumstance:

  • As necessary to provide services to its clients
  • As requested or permitted to do so by its clients
  • As required by law
  • To trusted third parties whose agreements with Enpira and/or an Enpira client preclude disclosure. These trusted third parties may include auditors, information security consultants, and other utility services providers.

Enpira may create de-identified derivatives of PII for educational, research, reporting, and/or marketing purposes as permitted by its clients. De-identified derivatives can be created through data anonymization, data aggregation, differential privacy, or another data de-identification mechanism. The purpose of the de-identification process is to produce non-confidential derivatives of PII such that disclosed aggregated or example information cannot be used to infer private information about any single individual. Enpira does not sell, rent, or lease de-identified derivatives of PII.

How PII is protected

Enpira takes administrative, technical, and physical precautions to ensure the confidentiality of client data and PII. Client data are encrypted wherever possible, both at rest and in transit, and all computers, servers, and storage devices are kept in secure environments to prevent misuse, authorized access, or disclosure of PII. Enpira uses reasonable efforts to safeguard information, but as no system of data transmission and storage is 100% secure and reliable, Enpira cannot guarantee with absolute certainty the security of the information Enpira stores.

Notice to individuals in the European Union

Enpira operates in the United States. If a European Union individual provides data to Enpira or if data on a European Union individual is provided by a client, that information will be stored in the United States. Information from European Union individuals is subject to the same privacy and security policies and procedures as information from United States individuals.
